The Laboratory for Automation, Microelectronics and Computational Intelligence -LAMIC is the result of several years of interdisciplinary work among professors and students of the Faculty of Engineering at Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, Bogotá DC, Colombia. Since 1999  students and professors have been advancing methodically and interdisciplinary programs and Systems Engineering of faculty of Electrical Engineering. These research activities have come to be supported through the following thematic groups:

1. LIV Virtual Instrumentation Lab.
2. GILP Programmable Logic Group and digital techniques.
3. HILES Group on High Level Specification
4. ACME Adaptation , Computer and Mind Group .
5. GIDIC Group Research and Development in Instrumentation and Control .
   

LAMIC is registered in the Colombian national science observatory and it has been awarded by the Colombian national science foundation (Colciencias, www.colciencias.gov.co ) as a Type-B research group in 2010.
